I don't know why you would need a Masters degree, it really depends on the undergraduate degree you pursue. But technically, in California, Arizona and possibly Wisconsin, you don't even need a college degree (you will need 8 years of working experience though). All I can tell you is that this field is not for everyone. For some it is great, for others not so good, then there is everything in between. I love my job and can't believe this is what I do. But in order to get where I am today, there were many sacrifices along the way.

An architect needs a strong foundation in math and spatial thinking. Generally a master's degree is needed, so in the US at least six years of schooling. Good college programs will include co-op jobs to gain real-world experience, so to get a master's degree could take closer to eight years in total. No one can tell you if you would find satisfaction in the job without knowing your unique skills, strengths and interests. Check out the American Institute of Architects' website for more information on the field (www.aia.org).
