You may wish to contact a few Architectural Schools first to see if there are specific requirements for your portfolio, such as number of pieces to include, format for presentation of your work, types of work, etc, but historically what the school will look for are examples of your artistic and creative talents, whether these are in visual arts ( drawing, painting, collage, etc…) or in 3D ( sculpture, furniture, tree houses, Ha!) and if you are fortunate to be in some design program where you are actually designing, examples of buildings or spaces you designed. So to start your portfolio you will need to include reproductions of your work in the specified format. The work should be what you ( and a trusted adviser ) consider your absolute best work and most expressive and reflective of you and responsive to the portfolio criteria. Follow the ‘less ( but great ) is definitely more’ creed; a load of mediocre pieces is much less impressive than a few really good things.
