Right now I work 40-60hrs a week and I work hard and stressfull. Will being an architect be a hard life as well? Will I get to see my family and friends? Will I get to enjoy the holidays? Will I make a very good living? Is there going to be work for me for years to come? I would like it if someone would please answer my questions.

YES IT IS WORTH YOUR TIME AND YOU SHOULD FOLLOW YOU DREAM AND PLUS THE MONEY IS GOOD
Think about this… what would you rather do… be a manager for Meineke the rest of your life, or be an architect which might be your passion? You should do what makes you happy. If you’re an architect you could possibly start your own firm and set aside time for yourself by hiring others to take your place. Do what will make you happy. You’re not too old to start a college career. Trust me! My bf is 27, almost 28 and he’s finally graduating this coming May. People should be happy in their line of work, everything else will fall into place.
Never too late.
Go for it. You’ll love your life.
Its a 5 year degree and you need a masters to really get hired by a firm. Are you willing to put that effort into it?
I don’t know the hours etc an architect keeps. The only advice I can give you is go for it if it’s what you want. Any time you get to realize a dream whether it’s becoming an architect, building a house or whatever it’s definitely worth the time effort and energy put into it! Don’t ever give yourself a chance to look back and say I wish I had ….
It is not too late. Only you know if it is worth the time to you.
Architecture school is tough, you have to maintain a fairly high GPA compared to other majors. When you graduate, you’ll have to start at the bottom - working for another architect - and work your way up. It will pay well once you have established yourself but it is a difficult job with lots of stress. There is no such thing as an easy job that pays well.
how are you at designing what people want?
how are you at math?
how are you will to go to college for many years?
then working under a licended architect for several years to get your licens?
then how would you deal with if one day a building you design falls in a you get sewed for a miscalculation?
Heck NO it’s not too late!
You’re still a young man with time on your side and good managerial skills. So put some of those managerial skills to work for you in your career.
If you truely know that you want to study architecture, figure out how much you need to live on as a student, then figure out how to manage your time and priorities to pursue the career you really want.
This is your career you’re talking about, so think long term and plan short term for what you need to get through your studies.
Good luck!
i would say always go with your passion in work. u can’t garantee that you will work less, but i am sure you won’t be as stressed since you are doing something that you really like (if that’s what you really like, and not if you are only doing it because you think it’s easier and to get rid of the hard work)
First keep in mind there are people on here who give stupid answers so don’t be dicouraged only read and take into consderation what is useful.
With that said Yes- of course you should pursue your dream but first I would get a 9-5pm job so you can go to school at night. Have an employment agency do the work for you that way you can schedule you interveiws on your day off. Then I would start going to school at night have fun meet cool new people and study hard. I have a freind who was an architect and she made over 50k a year and she was just starting she started out in a firm and ther are lrage firms you can do a lot of things like design neighborhoods but she thought she woudl just be an architect but the job opend up to other things she would travel to communites she designed and drew how cool. Look at the world people are moving constantly and there’s always new newighboorhoods and city’s that need to be developed that’s where you come in. I would work in a huge firm you should go to whitepages and look for architect firms in your area and look at the websites try to get a job and then go to school at night that way they will know that your going to get your degree. And you know you’ll get a promotion ounce you complete school. Hey I am 29 and I am an inventor and I have just begun to pursue my inventions it is never to late get serious and do it get a 9-5 why give your life to that job it is not about the money your not doing what you want to be doing. So what’s the point. Your spinning your wheels. Oh and architects around here the Washington, dc area are off by 5pm. And ps they can work from home it is not the same lifestyle you may have a home office because you have plenty of dough. But even in the office you’ll be off at the latest 7pm if your working on a project but you can do most of your work from home. You should talk to an architect jsut call one up and start asking questions you will get a lot of info. Pray about it Jesus will help open the doors to. Jesus bless you..
