the university i plan on going to doesn’t have a degree in architecture. But they do have a civil engineering degree with an emphasize on architecture. would that still allow me to get a job as an architect and eventually get licensed as one?
2 Responses on could i still become an architect with out a degree in architecture?
Possible, but call several local Architectural firms and ask!
Some places are very picky, others do not mind. It is best to know what the policies are in your location (or the location where you plan to work when you get out of school.
Why are you planning to go to this school if it does not have an architecture program? Choose a different school which does offer your intended major.
A degree in civil engineering will allow you to determine if an architect’s plans can realistically be implemented into a house or other building. You will be checking an architect’s plans for structural flaws that would cause the building to collapse. It will not prepare you for the actual design work.
