honestly i dont know about your high school but i think most high school wont have many classes that will help you with for a architecture major. The closest thing you can get in high school is probably art classes. Your only option might be attending your local college and see what they have to offer and see if you really like this stuff. As for Civil Engineering you will need to know a lot of physics and calculus so you take those in HS. A lot of architectures attend Art school so you should look at the art school around you and check out the program. Good luck.

mm...actually u dont have to very good in math and physic...what are the most important thing is that u know how to create a creative idea to design a building..if u can draw..that is an advantage for u...because easy for u to deliver to ur client (showing them the idea by draw them up)...even sometimes u have to use some simple math such as to calculate the window/opening for every space of ur building

As for the course for ur high school...i suggest u take a drafting class (if it offered)..physic..math...oh yeah...drawing class (advantage)...

But whenever u enter the real world of architect...u must know how to deal with ur client...authority...other consultant such as engineer, quantity surveyor, contractor ...etc..because u are the leader of the whole project...

Just so u know...being an architect is a tough job especially for a girl/lady...believe me..i have a lot of girlfrends who work as an architect...but dont worry, since u really want to be one of them...i believe u can do it...

Anyway..good luck

One thing to consider is a foreign language if it isn't already required by your high school. A lot of colleges require a foreign language in high school to get in.

I agree with the other post that you need to focus on math classes for sure especially geometry. You'll probably also need physics and maybe geology. You may also consider a drafting class if it is offered. You may want to just look up an architect in your area and ask them what you can do to prepare. There's nobody better than someone in the profession.

I tell people this all the time and I really think its the best answer (hint hint..lol): DONT TAKE ANY SPECIAL CLASSES!!!!.

Maybe some drawing classes to help with that, or an intro to architecture class just to make sure you are interested, but other than that, dont try to take any special classes.

What you need to do is make sure you are doing very well in your maths. Try to get Calculus done before you graduate. Also, if your school gives you a choice of sciences, go for physics. Take as many dual-enrollment/AP/IB classes as you can for subjects like English, Foreign language and histories. That way you can take them and get college credit and not have to worry about it in college. This will allow you to get into your actual major (in your cause Architecture) sooner.

Most importantly: TALK TO YOUR ACADEMIC COUNSELOR! He/she will help you!

Good Luck!!
