In high school classes like physics (for the structures), drafting (for the drawings), speech (you give a lot of presentations), autocad, and art (there is a lot of art with renderings, models, etc.) are very much related to architecture.
In the architecture program at the bachelors level you will be taking classes in:
Art (a lot more than you would think), building systems, construction drawing, design, structural systems, HVAC design, art and architectural history, interior design, urban planning, landscaping and landscape architecture, presentations, speech, physics, structural design, and more design. This is in addition to the university basics (math, government, history, etc.)
Good luck! Its a LOT of work but rewarding. Just remember that you will have to get a 5th year professional degree or a masters degree plus do a multi year (usually at least 3) internship before you can even begin to try and get licensed.
One Response on I want to become an Architect, what classes must I take?
