How to become an Architect?

This question has been asked before but I want to ask again because I’m in a different situation.
I go to UCSD and my school doesn’t offer an architecture major. It only offerers ‘Structural Engineering’ and I pray to God that there’s another way to become an architect.
My questions are:
Could I still become an architect?
Are there grad schools for this field? If so, what are the classes I have to take?
How do I become an architect starting from my situation. I’m a sophomore at UCSD majoring in urban studies and visual arts.

You’re only a sophomore so here is what you can do - transfer to a school that offers an architecture undergrad program. you can take structural engineering and then get a masters in architecture and become certified that way, but it sounds like you don’t want to structurally engineer anything. architecture is a highly specialized field of study - make sure it’s what you want to do before you rearrange your life. go talk to your career development center or your academic advisor (most schools offer an interdisciplinary major in which you can basically create the major you want if you school doesn’t offer it. it would be the rough equivalent of architecture and probably help you get into a good grad program).
I would go for the structural engineering degree. It will be more worth an investment in the end. You can then go to architect school afterwards.
I agree with Dr S. get your undergrad degree in sturctural engineering and then go to grad school to get the architect’s degree. But if you really can’t stand that idea, then start reasearching architectual schools–contact firms in your area and talk to the architects about what schools they went to, then transfer your Jr year to the new school.
