I have bachelor of fine arts; I am going to apply for architecture and I need to demonstrate the relation between art (painting) and architecture in the statement
3 Responses on I need to know if there is a relationship between architecture and painting?
All architects are artists. A great painting will contain the same elements found in a great building/structure, which will include some or all of the basic elements of design - balance, focal point, colour, value, line, shape, form, texture, space.
You can also research-explore another area which might reveal surprising facts. I.e., explore the ancient history of arts - look into traditional arts - go back in your research to the times where most kinds of art was clearly believed to have one origin.
Those who have read da Vinci Code will have an idea of what I am saying: ancient arts and ancient crat societies were masters of the common values and relations between the variosu forms of art. It was, indeed, their “secret.”
Architecture, or any kind of art that we see in its advanced form today, arose out of common shapes and structures. Sacred geometry, which is still alive as an art tradition in the Islamic world (called “Islamic Art”), centers around the exploration of universal shapes and structures. Mathematics is at the root of the “common values” - or relationship - between visual art and architecture.
… Here, I have written half the essay for you. Traditional arts are not widely known now, and if you are suspicious, then do explore the school linked to below. The only one of its kind, Prince of Wales’ school of traditional arts is centered on the idea presented above.
